Mr. Karim formerly served as Group Head Advisory & Strategic Investment Group of Pak Brunei. He is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan with twenty years of post- qualification experience of working in Non- Banking Finance Companies and Development Finance Institutions in various management cadres including Chief Operating Officer and Group Head. Areas of specialization include development and implementation of business strategies, turnaround of companies as well as investment banking divisions of development finance companies with emphasis on revival of sick units and financial advisory, recovery and restructuring of infected portfolios, corporate finance, treasury, capital, market operations, finance and credit appraisals.

Ms. Shabbir brings over eighteen years of experience in structured finance, risk management, and credit ratings. She started her career with Anjum Asim Shahid before moving on to JCR-VIS Credit Rating Company in the year 2000 where she last served as Head, Corporate Ratings and Member, Rating Committee. In March 2008, she joined Pak Brunei Investment Company and was instrumental in setting up the risk department as Head, Risk Management. From there she moved on to investment banking as Head, Structured Finance. She was transferred to Awwal Modaraba in 2015 in order to extend the group’s portfolio. Her experience includes working on turnaround of distressed assets, infrastructure finance, mergers and acquisitions, securitization and she has exposure to all major sectors locally.

Ms. Shabbir holds an MBA in Finance from the Institute of Business Administration, Karachi and is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Financial Risk Manager (FRM). She has attended several local and international trainings on structured finance, asset securitization and Islamic Finance. She has also attended the SECP approved Director’s Training Program – ‘Enhancing Board Effectiveness’ conducted by Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) as well as the ‘Leadership and Governance Training’ delivered by CFA Institute and The Institute of Directors (IOD) UK.

Mr. Mansoor Ahmed has thirteen (13) years of diversified experience in Advisory, Investment Banking and Equity Research. He joined Awwal Modaraba in early 2017 as Head of Advisory and Capital Markets. He is managing Awwal Modaraba’s equity investments portfolio. Since joining Awwal Modaraba, he has worked on and successfully closed many advisory assignments including due-diligence on various companies, advising clients on raising fresh capital through Initial Public Offering (IPO), advisory for merger transaction and valuations.

Prior to joining Awwal Modaraba, Mr. Ahmed was associated with Advisory and Strategic Investments Group (Investment Banking Division) at Pak Brunei Investment Company. He joined Pak Brunei In February 2008 and served in various capacities including Acting Head of Investment Banking. He was actively involved in transactions relating to structured debt financing, project and rehabilitation financing, merger & acquisition deals, capital raising through debt / equity markets and underwriting. He worked on Pak Brunei’s proprietary equity investments including revival / growth capital and hybrid instruments and special initiatives like establishment of a subsidiary for Modaraba business and conducted due-diligence exercise for acquisition of a leasing company.

Previously, Mr. Ahmed worked at research department of Taurus Securities Limited (a subsidiary of National Bank of Pakistan) for around three years. He served as Senior Research Analyst responsible for conducting in-depth analysis and research on the local equity market as well as listed companies and proposing investment strategies to institutional and retail clients. During his stay at Taurus Securities, he released a number of research reports on many listed companies and different sectors.

Mr. Ahmed holds a degree of Masters in Business Administration from University of Karachi’s Business School. He also represented Pak Brunei on the board of a client, an auto vendor company.
